General Description
The Career Services Specialist position is a full-time administrative support position within the organization of the Online Campus, Department of Career Services.
Primary Responsibilities
Graduate Services:
- Match graduates and students seeking job and internship opportunities
- Conduct weekly communications with graduates and students regarding their job and internship searches via telephone and email, record documentation of progress in Campus Vue
- Conduct weekly telephone and email communications with graduates regarding their job search and document the graduates' progress
- Field incoming requests from graduates and employers via email, fax and telephone, meeting one-on-one with graduates and students for career related services and guidance
- Reach out and support a body of students from day one to maintain contact and development
- Assist students creating resumes and cover letters
Departmental Support:
- File, organize, or prepare student and graduate virtual files
- Work on various projects including graduation, mass mailings, employer databases, and and maintenance
- Process diplomas and transcripts for mailing to graduates
- Attend, participate, and come prepared to daily meetings/updates with Career Services Team regarding direction of Career Services
- Gather career-related articles for sharing among coworkers and management
- Assist Director in completing monthly Career Services report and report out on individual performance weekly
- Document, report, and find ways to improve accountability along with the Career Services Department for semester placement percentage including employment, internships, and clinicals
- Create new marketing and outreach strategies for Career Services using technology and social media
Student Support:
- Contact assigned students upon initial enrollment to introduce the Career Services Department and determine individual student needs
- Conduct weekly outreach to assigned job and internship seekers
- Listen and respond to student questions and requests for support in a timely and accurate manner
- Provide students with information on the full range of resources available for internship and job seeking support
- Interact in a fair and impartial way with students and graduates
- Listen to and evaluate student problems and concerns, counseling them within the norm of society and the regulations of the University
Professional:
- Prepare accurate individual performance report for regularly scheduled one-on-one meetings with the Director
- Portray a positive, professional image of and for the University at all times
- Complete professional development activities as established through consultation with the Director
- Cooperate with all members of the campus management team and staff
- Assist the Career Services Team with other projects and/or administrative duties as required
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred
- Portray a positive, professional image of and for the University at all times
- Complete professional development activities as established through consultation with the Associate Director of Career Services and Mentor Administration
- Cooperate with all members of the campus management team and staff
- Assist the Career Services Team with other projects and/or administrative duties as required
Reporting
The Career Services Specialist reports to the Director of Career Services.
Other
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, grasp, handle or touch objects. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, and reach above shoulders.
