Information for Military Students

You've Served Us, Now We Serve You

Perhaps you’re choosing online for the flexibility to work school around your other commitments. Maybe you’re not interested in sitting in a classroom with younger students who can’t relate to what you’ve seen and where you have been.

We talk the talk (because we've walked the walk!)

The first Herzing campus was founded in 1965 by Henry Herzing, a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy (Senior Missile Test Officer, White Sands). Beginning as a computer training school, the Herzing University system has grown to include campuses in eight U.S. states plus the Online Campus, which is headquartered along with the Herzing Administrative Offices in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Chief Academic Officer of the University, Dr. Bill Getter, is a retired Air Force officer. For over a decade, Dr. Getter taught in and managed degree programs for military members online and on military bases throughout the world.

With graduate and undergraduate educational programs in Public Safety, Business, Technology, Healthcare, and Design, Herzing's career-focused curricula are designed to give students real-world skills and knowledge so they are preapared to begin working in their field of study upon graduation.

About Online Education

Chances are you're not able to put your life on hold to attend college. Most of our military students are working full-time, and many have families. Our courses are flexible to work around your other obligations—log in when it’s convenient for you from any computer with internet access.

Students typically take about two classes at a time. Homework includes completing your reading assignments, posting to the discussion boards, and completing any written assignments or tests. Students should plan on logging into the virtual classroom at least four different times per week for an online weekly total of approximately three-to-five hours.

Flexible & Convenient

You are never required to be online at a specific time at Herzing University Online, which means you never have to worry about missing class. However, this is still college, so it is important to submit your homework by the due dates. Students are typically required to post to the discussion board by mid-week and submit a written assignment or test by the end of the week. (All assignments must be submitted by midnight CST on the scheduled due date.)

You’ll receive your homework assignments at the beginning of the week so you know what needs to be done in advance. Be sure to communicate with your instructor whenever you encounter issues that conflict with school.

One-on-One Instruction

Herzing University Online classes are kept small to ensure access to your instructors when you need help. Instructors are readily available by email or phone for questions and can provide tutoring via our real-time, interactive website.
