Selective Reserve Members
- Montgomery GI Bill – Selective Reserve
Those reservists enrolled in the Selective Reserves are eligible for the Montgomery GI Bill – Selective Reserve (Ch 1606) educational benefit. The MGIB – SR is very similar to the MGIB, granting 36 months of benefits toward an approved educational program. For more information regarding MGIB – SR eligibility and benefits, view Montgomery GI Bill – Selected Reserve pamphlet on the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs web site.
- Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP)
Those Selective Reservists who received orders for and served 90-consecutive days of active duty on or after September 11, 2001, under title 10 U.S. Code for a contingency operation may be eligible for educational benefits through the Reserve Educational Assistance Program (Ch 1607). National Guard members may also be eligible. This program may be used instead of the MGIB – SR. For more details, review the REAP pamphlet on the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs web site.
