History of Herzing University
Herzing University first began in 1965 as a computer training school. Mr. Henry Herzing, a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy (Senior Missile Test Officer, White Sands), created the school to provide hands-on classes in a caring learning environment. Since then, Herzing University system has grown to include ten campuses in the U.S. plus the Online Campus, which is headquartered along with the Herzing Administrative Offices in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Herzing University has a great respect for the culture, the heritage, and our opportunity to support Tribal Members through higher education. Our passion and commitment is to increase the educational opportunities and resources for all Native American Indian, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians.
Academic Programs
Programs range from diploma programs to master’s degrees, and prepare students for careers in Public Safety, Business, Technology, Health Care and Design. Designed to provide real-world skills to students, Herzing graduates are poised to begin working in their field of study upon graduation.
About Online Education
Chances are you’re not able to ‘drop everything’ to attend college. Most of our Tribal students are working full-time, and many have families. Our courses are flexible to work around your other obligations—you log in when it’s convenient for you, from any computer with internet access.
School at Herzing Online requires reading from your textbooks, posting to the discussion boards, and completing any written assignments or tests. Most Herzing Online students take about two classes at a time and spend 8-10 hours per class on school work each week. Students should plan on having online access at least four different days each week for an online weekly total of approximately three hours.
Flexible & Convenient
Since classes are not held at a specific time of day, you never have to worry about missing class at Herzing University Online. But this is still college, so it is important to submit your homework by the due dates. Most classes require a post to the discussion board by mid-week, and a written assignment or test is due by the end of the week.
One-on-One Instruction
Herzing instructors are highly-credentialed experts in their industry, and they our classes are kept small to ensure access to your instructors when you need help; they are readily available by email or phone for questions and can provide tutoring via our real-time, interactive website.

Our admissions process is based on your current readiness and motivation to attend college. We are also in contact with the Tribal Higher Education Office to insure proper criteria has been met for each student.
Paying for school
Herzing Online offers federal financial aid (FAFSA) to those who qualify.
Credit transfer/ACE
Earn transfer credit for your military training or prior schooling.
Student Services
Tribal students have specific needs and questions. Our staff is experienced in catering to those unique needs.
Military Discount
You have sacrificed for our great country, and for that we salute you! Herzing University’s programs have been approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs, so military students can utilize their VA benefits to help cover the cost of tuition. In addition, Herzing also offers Military Tuition Discounts
