Herzing University to host a booth at the 40th Annual National Indian Education Association (NIEA) Convention

October 7, 2009

Herzing University Native American Education department will be hosting a booth at the 40th Annual National Indian Education Association (NIEA) Convention coming to the Midwest Airlines Center in Milwaukee October 22-25, 2009. The theme for the 2009 convention is 'Shaping Our Future Wisdom Keepers.'

"With over 562 federally recognized Native American, Alaskan Native, and Native Hawaiian Tribes in the United States all convening to this one event, we are very excited and honored to take part," said Cheryl Smith, Herzing University Online Director of Native American Education.

The event is scheduled to attract Native American leaders from across the US to discuss education, policy, and shared Tribal resources. The convention’s annual traditional Pow Wow is slated for Friday night at 6 p.m. at Potawatomi Bingo Casino. This year it will be held in conjunction with the 5th Annual Forest County Potawatomi Hunting Moon Pow Wow, so it’s surely to be a fantastic event!
