National Governors Association Says State Schools Should Follow Example of Career Colleges
Career colleges excel at supporting—and therefore graduating—their students, according to a recent report published by the National Governors Association.
The report, “Increasing College Success: A Road Map for Governors” which was released in December 2009 by the National Governors Association (NGA) Center for Best Practices – Education Division, shows concern that although 74 percent of future jobs will require a college education, “barely half” of the students at public community colleges graduate. It further lists the different advantages private career colleges hold for students over public community colleges—including the emphasis on student support programs and graduation rates—and calls for state-run community colleges to follow the lead of private career colleges in these and other areas. read more »

No, it’s not that team from north of the Wisconsin border. Herzing University Online campus in Milwaukee dressed in Purple on Friday to raise awareness of epilepsy.
According to PupleDay.org Friday March 26th is international Purple Day. Founded in 2008 by nine-year-old Cassidy Megan of Nova Scotia, Canada, with the help of the Epilepsy Association of Nova Scotia, Purple Day is an international grassroots effort dedicated to increasing awareness about epilepsy worldwide. read more »
Herzing Passes the 500 Fan Mark on Facebook
Herzing University officially has over 500 fans on the popular social networking site Facebook. The Herzing University official fan page launched September 1, 2009 recently surpassed the 500 fan mark and the excitement surrounding the fan page continues to build. The page created for active students, graduates and prospective students serves as a source for information as well as a place to connect and network. read more »
Herzing University Online Design Student Wins First Honorable Mention in CCA Logo Contest
Congratulations to Aaron Bowersock of West Allis, WI, Herzing University Online Graphic Design student, winner of first honorable mention in the Career College Association’s (CCA) 2010 Convention Logo student competition. The contest is open to students currently enrolled in a CCA-member school. Aaron’s design was chosen from more than 60 entries. His logo will be appear on CCA’s website, www.career.org. He receives a $250 cash prize and certificate of achievement. read more »

The Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM) accredits degree-granting HIM programs that have undergone a rigorous process of voluntary peer review and have met or exceeded the minimum accreditation standards as set by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). More information about CAHIIM’s mission and purpose can be found at www.cahim.org. The Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management (BSHIM) Program at the Herzing University Online campus was granted CAHIIM Accreditation on August 27, 2009. The National Indian Education Association Convention (NIEA) was held on October 22-25 at the Midwest Airline Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This year the convention featured over 180 workshop presenters and co-presenters, 140 exhibitors and vendor businesses, 225 junior high/high school students, and 60 Tribal leaders and elders. Carla Culver from the Wyandotte Nation (Oklahoma) was the proud winner of a beautiful gift basket presented to her by Cheryl Evans-Smith, Director of Native American Education for Herzing University Online. read more »
