Career Services Department Gives Back
Jennifer DeVerney, Holly Franson and Ann Leicht spent some time volunteering at the Milwaukee Urban League Tuesday, September 22nd 10:00am – 2:00pm presenting a work- shop titled “Job Search Readiness.” Twenty Urban League clients were in attendance and the League provided lunch. The topics included: resume preparation, gaps in employment, cover letters, references, and networking. The three also discussed professionalism from day one and throughout the job search. After the workshop the session broke off into groups and did resume review and mock interviews.
Jennifer said, “The positive feedback received from staff as well as clients after the work- shop was tremendous. The clients were extremely attentive and made a point to ask a lot of great questions. They took lots of notes and gained a ton of useful information to assist them in their job search. In addition, I was able to speak one-on-one with three clients in regards to the programs Herzing University offers with one client interested in beginning the enrollment process for November 2nd.”
So not only did the Career Services Team do a GREAT community service, we were able to share our expertise and give back to the city of Milwaukee!
