HIM Students Now Eligible to Take the RHIA Exam
The Admissions Department here at Herzing University was very excited to learn that on August 27, 2009 our Online Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management (BSHIM) program received accreditation from the Commission on Health Informatics and Information Management (CAHIIM). This accreditation will allow our graduates to sit for the prestigious Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification exam offered through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
Becoming RHIA certified opens numerous doors for a healthcare professional. It certifies that you have proven a level of expertise in managing patient health information and medical records, and in analyzing data and operating computer information systems within a healthcare setting. Because the RHIA is responsible for handling patient information and operating systems in which those data are analyzed and stored, they have the opportunity to work with all levels of a healthcare organization which allows for many opportunities for career advancement.
We are very excited to achieve this accreditation and we are proud that we can offer this opportunity to the nearly 100 current BSHIM students we have, and the many that will follow.
If you are currently in the DMBIC or ASMBIC programs, you may want to consider enrolling in the BSHIM program.
