Computer Science — Overview

According to Webster’s Dictionary, Computer Science is “The branch of engineering science that studies (with the aid of computers) computable processes and structures.” Expanding on this definition, computer science incorporates the ability to problem-solve and think analytically, and then apply that to the technological tools available (computers). While computer scientists must have an understanding of computer hardware, networking and programming, they must be able to understand the nature of a process above all else.

Computer Science — Is it for you?

Because the field of computer science is really more about examining processes and solving problems than the actual computer itself, those interested in a career in computer science must have an aptitude for mathematics, analyzation, critical thinking and problem solving in addition to an aptitude for working with computers.
