Criminal Justice— Herzing College Online Programs
A degree in Criminal Justice can be applied to many careers within the law enforcement, security and corrections fields. The Herzing programs in Criminal Justice include coursework to make sure graduates:
- Understand the legal system and judicial process
- Think critically and ethically
- Demonstrate proficiency in criminalistics and evidence forensics
- Understand the unique aspects of corrections and juvenile justice
Each program incorporates the required core courses for successful entry into this field and adds additional courses as required by the level of education the student pursues.
Associate of Science in Criminal Justice
The Associate degree provides students with 60 semester credit hours. All topics listed above are covered in order to ensure graduates have knowledge of the different areas of criminal justice. Graduates will have a well-rounded approach to working within the public safety sector and will be employable in the different career areas.

Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a Concentration in Homeland Security
In addition to the core criminal justice topics, the Bachelor degree delves deeper into criminal psychology and investigation, narcotics and financial crimes. In the homeland security concentration, students explore and learn how to respond to different situations that hinder public safety: fire science, terrorism, emergency management, industrial security and incident stress management are some of the topics covered.

Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with No Minor or Concentration
For those students with a large number of college credits earned from a prior institution, this degree allows for greater transferability of credits and does not include a minor or concentration. The core and elective Criminal Justice courses are still included in the curriculum of this degree.
