Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies

Explore nearly a dozen specialty areas of law with Herzing's Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies. Other topics include ethics and professionalism in the legal field, advanced legal research, management training, and core business courses to help the student understand what motivates businesses to act in certain way.

Graduates of this program will be able to draft legal documents and contracts. They will also be prepared to articulate law practices in a variety of legal settings where legal professionals work, including small and large private firms, corporations, and governmental agencies.

Graduates of this program will also be elgible to work as a legal assistant or paralegal. The duties of a legal assistant/paralegal include assisting the lawyer with research, brief preparation, and other legal office administration, but do not include practicing law, advising clients, or setting fees since paralegals may not provide legal services directly to the public except as permitted by law.

This degree is ideal for those looking to work in the legal assisting/paralegal field, supervise other legal department employees, or continue on to law school for a Juris Doctor (JD) degree (also known as Juris Doctorate).
