Herzing University Online offers several program options for those looking to further their education in the field of Medical Assisting. The Diploma in Medical Assisting will roll directly into the Associate Degree in Medical Assisting, which incorporates the general education courses required for successful entry into the Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management degree.
The Herzing University Online medical assisting programs are ABHES accredited.Diploma in Medical Assisting
Fully accredited through ABHES, the Diploma in Medical Assisting online program is comprised solely of the core courses required for individuals seeking entry-level employment in the field of Medical Assisting. This diploma requires 48 semester credit hours for graduation and takes between 12 and 20 months to complete. Career opportunities for online Diploma program graduates include Medical Assistant, Medical Office Assistant, Medical Secretary, Admitting Clerk and Medical Administrative Assistant. Graduates of this program are eligible to sit for both the Certified Medical Assistant exam offered through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) and the Registered Medical Assistant exam given by the American Medical Technologists association (AMT).
Associate of Science in Medical Assisting
The Associate of Science in Medical Assisting online degree program builds upon the core courses of the online Diploma program by incorporating the general education requirements required for this level of degree. This program is also accredited through ABHES. The Associate is 65 credits and can be completed in 16–24 months. Careers for graduates of the online Associate Degree program are similar to the Diploma, however Associate Degree graduates will have greater bargaining potential when seeking employment and promotional opportunities within the health care field.Graduates of this program are eligible to sit for both the Certified Medical Assistant exam offered through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) and the Registered Medical Assistant exam given by the American Medical Technologists association (AMT).

Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management
Graduates of Herzing Online’s Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management degree program will not only master the core health sciences, general education requirements, and specialize in a specific area of health care (such as medical coding, medical assisting, or medical office administration), they will also posses a solid understanding of business and management principles and how those are applied to the health care field.
