CAMPUS SECURITY PROCEDURES

This information is provided as part of Herzing University’s commitment to safety and security and is in compliance with the Federal Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990.

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY

The cooperation and involvement of students, faculty and staff is absolutely necessary. Every individual must assume responsibility for their own safety and the security of their property by following simple precautions and operating with common sense.

SEXUAL ASSAULT POLICY

Herzing University desires to establish and maintain a safe and secure environment for its students, faculty and staff. We will not tolerate sexual assault of any kind. Sexual misconduct is socially irresponsible and violates the rights of other individuals. Herzing University prohibits any form of actual or attempted nonconsensual physical contact of a sexual nature, including acts using force, threat, intimidation, or advantage gained by the offended person’s mental or physical incapacity or impairment of which the offending person was aware or should have been aware. Sexual assault includes rape, sexual battery, gross sexual imposition, and felonious sexual penetration. In addition, anyone in violation of this policy will be subject to disciplinary action by Herzing University. This may include suspension, dismissal, and/or permanent notation in their record.

WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF A SEXUAL ASSAULT INCIDENT

We can refer you to people who can help. The effects of sexual assault or misconduct are multi-dimensional: physical, emotional, psychological, medical, and legal. A student or employee can obtain assistance through the following resource:

National Sexual Assault Hotline
(800) 656-HOPE
(800) 656-4673

Trained men and women are available 24 hours a day to provide crisis support and referrals. Services are comprehensive, confidential and free. Program staff members can help you contact the police.

Sexual assault that occurs using the college resources or by anyone associated to the university should be reported directly to the Academic Dean or Campus President.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE AND EVACUATION PROCEDURES

Not applicable for students, staff or faculty at a distance. For employees that work on site: Herzing University commits to immediately notify the campus community upon the confirmation of a significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of faculty or staff occurring on campus, unless the notification at that time will compromise efforts to contain the emergency.

If evacuation from the school is necessary due to an emergency, please follow the posted evacuation procedures.
